PDF Splitter is a client-side document extraction and deconstruction utility built to separate multi-page PDF documents into focused sub-documents or individual single-page files conforming to ISO 32000-1 specifications. Whether you need to extract specific tax schedules from a large return, separate confidential appendixes from a public whitepaper, or isolate single signed contracts from a high-volume scanning batch, PDF Splitter provides precise page range controls and burst extraction directly in your web browser.
PDF Splitter parses the PDF object hierarchy using client-side DOM array buffers and the pdf-lib document engine. It constructs a new PDF catalog containing only the page object dictionaries specified in the user's range query (e.g. "1-4, 8, 12-15") or creates separate single-page catalogs during Burst mode. The engine traverses the object graph to copy only font subsets, image XObjects, and content streams directly referenced by the retained pages. Unused resources from unselected pages are excluded from the output document, ensuring the extracted sub-document remains compact without bloat from unselected pages.
Illustrative input: full_tax_return.pdf (42 pages) | Selected Page Range: 1-2, 14, 18-20Illustrative output: tax_schedules_extracted.pdf (6-page focused PDF containing only selected schedule pages)Demonstrates non-contiguous page extraction, creating a clean sub-document for lending verification without exposing unrelated tax data.
Illustrative input: monthly_billing_batch.pdf (10 pages, 1 invoice per page) | Mode: Burst ExtractionIllustrative output: 10 distinct single-page documents (invoice_001.pdf through invoice_010.pdf)Shows batch separation where each page is exported as an independent, fully formed PDF file ready for client emailing.
Use comma-separated numbers and hyphenated ranges. For example, entering "1-4, 9, 12-15" extracts pages 1 through 4, page 9, and pages 12 through 15 in order into a single new document. Single page numbers and ascending ranges are fully supported.
Yes. When pages are extracted, only the page content streams, embedded fonts, and image resources referenced by those selected pages are copied into the new file. All unselected pages and their associated heavy image streams are discarded.
Click the Split All button in the organizer toolbar. The tool iterates through the document, creating and downloading an independent, self-contained single-page PDF for each page in the source document.
No. Document-level outline trees and external bookmarks are excluded from the extracted PDF, ensuring clean page-level navigation without dead links to omitted pages.
